An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a medical test that detects cardiac (heart) abnormalities by measuring the electrical activity/signal generated by the heart during a cardiac cycle. It’s a common and painless test used to quickly detect heart problems and monitor your heart’s health.
Who need ECG?
A physician may suggest an ECG for people with risk of heart disease like family history of heart disease, or diabetes, or high blood pressure or cholesterol or over weight/obesity or if they smoke.
When you need ECG?
if you have symptoms of heart disease, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, an irregular heartbeat or heavy heartbeats or if you have high blood pressure. If you have any risk of heart disease or for screening test and if you want to start exercising.
It’s worth doing a screening ECG test!!
